Start the Day with Faith and Fellowship

Each day at Aldersgate begins with an hour of worship, reflection, and encouragement in our beautiful chapel. For the first 30 minutes, Associates come together for uplifting praise and worship through music, creating an atmosphere of joy and gratitude. The second half of the hour features an inspiring devotional led by an Aldersgate staff member, an Associate, or a special guest from the community. This daily gathering provides a meaningful opportunity to grow in faith, build lasting friendships, and begin each day with purpose, hope, and a heart ready to serve others.

Discover Purpose Through Meaningful Work

After morning devotion, Associates begin their daily vocational activities—work that is thoughtfully matched to each individual's unique abilities, interests, and strengths. Whether assembling pamphlets for 3M, maintaining landscapes for TxDOT, creating handcrafted items, or serving in other meaningful roles, every Associate contributes to the Aldersgate community in a valuable way.
More than just a job, our vocational program builds confidence, develops practical skills, encourages independence, and provides the opportunity to earn a paycheck. Every task is a reminder that each person has gifts to offer and an important role to play. |

Sharing a Meal, Building Community
|
Lunchtime at Aldersgate is about much more than enjoying a delicious meal—it's a time to gather, connect, and strengthen our community. Each day, our chef prepares a hot, nutritious lunch for every Associate and staff member on campus.
Our Meal Program began in 1994 after recognizing that some Associates could not afford to bring a lunch from home and were going without a midday meal. No one should have to choose between participating in a meaningful day and having something to eat. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors, this program continues today, ensuring that every Associate receives a warm meal and the opportunity to share fellowship around the table. Every lunch served is a reminder that our community cares for one another in both big and small ways. |
Afternoon Activities: Fun, Fitness, and Friendship

When the workday ends at 4:00 p.m., the day is far from over. Associates have the opportunity to participate in a variety of engaging afternoon activities planned by our dedicated staff. These experiences are designed to promote healthy living, encourage social interaction, and provide opportunities to explore new interests.
Many activities take place in the Tod Bishop Memorial Therapeutic Center, where Associates can exercise in our on-site fitness center, swim in our heated indoor pool, or relax with friends during a movie in our theater room. Other days, the adventure takes us into the community for shopping, dining, bowling, and other recreational outings that foster independence and community involvement. All scheduled activities are provided at no cost to our Associates. When enjoying outings, Associates are welcome to use their own personal spending money for optional purchases such as snacks, drinks, or souvenirs, giving them the opportunity to practice financial independence while enjoying time with friends. At Aldersgate, every afternoon is another chance to grow, connect, and create lasting memories. |

Home: Ending the Day with Comfort and Independence
|
As the day comes to a close, many of our Associates return home without ever leaving the safety and comfort of the Aldersgate campus. Depending on their individual needs, Associates may live in the Bishop Family Assisted Living Facility, where caring support is always available, or at The Ranch at Aldersgate, our independent living community.
Opened in 2017, The Ranch at Aldersgate was created in response to a growing need. As Associates transitioned into independent living within the broader community, we saw too many become vulnerable to exploitation and taken advantage of by neighbors and others. We knew there had to be a better way. Today, The Ranch provides Associates with the opportunity to enjoy the independence of living in their own one-bedroom apartment while remaining in a secure, supportive community designed specifically for their success. It offers the freedom of independent living with the peace of mind that comes from knowing help, friendship, and familiar faces are always nearby. At Aldersgate, our mission doesn't end when the workday is over. From morning devotion to returning home each evening, every part of the day is thoughtfully designed to help our Associates live lives filled with purpose, dignity, independence, and belonging. |
